The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is comprised of five beds -- three beds for adults on the Neurology Unit and two for kids in Pediatrics -- designed to evaluate, diagnose and treat difficult-to-treat seizures in patients of all ages. This test includes recording seizures using a video camera and continuous EEG. A traditional EEG lasts about half an hour, which may not provide enough information to treat your seizures adequately. Inpatient video EEG monitoring provides a more comprehensive picture of the brain activity.
